Wayne and Lydia, Just a little note to let you know how much we enjoyed the fishing trip, the hospitality you extended was tremendous. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We all enjoyed the meal with the wild game. I liked both the Bear and the Moose. I think I like the Moose best. As I found in the past, the boats were clean and dependable. I guess we lucked out with the biting bugs. We did not have any to fight, a few little bites but not enough to be concerned with. Thank you again and may God bless through the year. We hope to see you again next year.

We have been to many different places in Canada over the past 30 years. I can truthfully say that this is the only one that we have been to 5 times in a row! The fishing for walleyes and smallies was great as always and every once in a while we'd have to bring in a muskie. Your hospitality and friendship was great as always. Your time out to celebrate my Dad's (77th) birthday was also very much appreciated. We're looking forward to year #6 in 2009!!! Thanks again for the extra day to the trip.

Just wanted to give a Great Big THANK YOU to Wayne and Lydia at North Country Lodge. This was the first time on Canyon for my wife and me and we had a great week. Thanks to the patience and help of the whole Lecot family including Robby and Samantha, we were able to catch several walleye, a few bass, and saw a couple of huge Muskies chasing our bait. If the weather had warmed up a little earlier I'm sure the bass would have been more cooperative. My wife's best two were a 25 inch and a 29 inch walleye. Yes she always catches more and bigger ones than me. I didn't have my camera for her 29 inch one and I stayed in the dog house for a while for that. The Tuesday night meal was delicious. The corned moose, moose steak and caribou stew were all new entrees for us and they were great, only to be topped with Robby's brownies and ice cream. Thanks to the Lecot family for giving us a new and wonderful experience.

Well we just got back into Chicago today from Canyon Lake and I have to agree with Lydia ... the fishing was stupid. Small mouth were slow but the Walleyes would not stop. My boat alone caught at least 40 Walleye on Monday 6/15 with a vast majority of them being in the 24 to 28 inch range. We actually had problems catching walleye under 18 inches! Sunday and Monday the Muskies would not leave our stringers alone. On Sunday we had a 45 to 50 incher stalking our stringer for about 20 minutes .... what a site. Over the 3 days we were there our group caught at least a dozen Muskies by accident, none too big but a nice diversion from the constant Walleye bite. This was my 1st time up and I will make the trip again next year. Wayne and Lydia were great hosts .... couldn't ask for a better place to get a line wet.

We had an absolute fantastic fishing trip to Canyon Lake this past week. (July 24th thru July 31st.) We lost count of how many walleye we caught most days we were catching and releasing well over 30 walleye per day. We only caught one musky on a jig with a leech all week. But the real story was that slip bobbers were deadly on the walleye with leeches and minnows. We also pulled in some big walleye 24" and 26" at times casting smaller bucktails for musky. The Camp supper was really special too with Corned Moose, Smoked Trout Chowder, and Perogies w/ Sour Cream! Great job Lydia!!! We had a ball all week!
